Be Someone’s Strength

Galatians 6:2…Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
We all have gone through periods in life where we felt that it was so hard to make it from one day to the next, but today – be strength for someone else.  How many times has another been there for you?  How many times has someone listened to your cries and frustrations and complaints?  Well, it's someone else’s turn.
Deuteronomy 2:3…Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
We have a God who is great and faithful, who is full of mercy and grace.  As the scripture above says, you’ve gone through this season for far too long and it’s time to go higher.  How can we be encouragement to someone else if our eyes are always full of sorrowful tears and our mouths not yielding positive confessions about God’s ability to change a season?
Romans 12:10… Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another
This morning someone came to me just to vent because their heart was heavy, and rightfully so.  Instead of joining their Amen corner and crying with them, I was able to point them to God’s word and give them an exact scripture to meditate on to get through the trying moment.  That’s what we are here to do.  But we can’t do that if we are trying to outdo them complaining.
Ephesians 4:29… Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
In short....stop whining!

After My Aching Heart…

(A tribute to my Girlfriends, whom I love dearly...)

This last past month has been one of an aching heart for me, but yet at the same time, one of unexplainable strength.  God “blessed” me to be on the receiving end of so many sorrow filled conversations and at one point I cried out, because I was like God I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I shed many tears because people that I love so dearly were hurting and it hurt me that they hurt.

I use the term “blessed” because through this season, I’ve come to understand that God trusted me with intimate details of people’s lives and innermost secrets and I did what I was supposed to do – I prayed earnestly and fervently for them. Daily I whispered their names to the heavens, as if it were me, and petitioned heaven for blessings and victory. I was in the right place at the right time and I thank God for using me as His instrument.  My faith has been strengthened and I have become all the more encouraged.

Yesterday I began to receive good reports as a testament that prayer works.  So, after my aching heart came overwhelming joy.  Unspeakable joy.  Knowing that even though I don’t deserve His grace and mercy that He gives so freely, He provided a reprieve for my aching heart so that I can continue to used by and for Him!

Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Out do one another in showing honor.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Psalms 30:5weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Help Lord...

Psalms 61:1-4

1 O God, listen to my cry!
Hear my prayer!

2 From the ends of the earth,
I cry to you for help
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety,

3 for you are my safe refuge,
a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.

4 Let me live forever in your sanctuary,
safe beneath the shelter of your wings!

A Wealthy Place...

This weekend, I had the privilege of attending a women's retreat that ushered my mind to a "wealthy place."  Being in a wealthy place of peace and rest and having a wealth of gratitude and appreciation, is just as important as being wealthy financially.

It was an opportunity to step away from the normalcy of life and just breathe; just to take in the beauty of God's awesome creations.  Once we arrived at our destination, we were met with excellence.  Please know that being in a wealthy place and operating in excellence is a "state of mind."

In order to go where you've never gone or to do what you've never done or to be what you've never been - you have to think differently.  Our minds can be as limiting or as limitless as we allow them to be.  If you can imagine it, then with God, you can do it.

Let's journey together to a wealthy place.

Psalms 66:12...Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

Empty Your Heart…

Empty out your heart.  Tell God exactly how you feel.  Tell God exactly where it hurts and exactly why it hurts.  Don’t hold back.  He wants to hear from you.

It’s more powerful when you verbalize it.  You can sit and think about it all day long, but sometimes it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t open your mouth and say it.  You ever had a time when you know you needed to have a conversation with someone and you recounted what you wanted to say in your mind over and over again?  However, it wasn’t until you said what you needed to say that you truly felt better.  Well, I imagine it to be that way with God.  He wants to hear from you.

Now, after you’ve said it, take a break and be silent; sit still.

It’s His turn to talk back to you.  Listen intently because you don’t want to miss a word of His response.  Now that you’ve emptied out your heart, allow Him to refill it with what He wants to be there.  Allow the freshness of His Holy Spirit to renew you, to overtake you, to make you whole.  Just say “yes” to His leading.  Now that your heart is full of Him, it’s time for you to be what He’s called you to be.
