If we aren’t careful, we can run from one crisis to the next in our lives, with no break in between, and before we know it - we are completely exhausted! The crazy thing about it is that many times, it’s not our own personal crisis.
This morning as I drove to work, I was speaking with friend about some of the different issues she has faced in life and I told her something along the lines of, “ever since I have known you, you’ve been from one crisis to the next and none of them have been your own.” The Bible tells us not to cast our pearls before swine and sometimes we want to help people out of situations BUT these people aren’t trying to help themselves. We become their Rescue Engine and whenever there is a fire in their lives, they look for us to come running. However, at some point in time if you keep up this behavior you are going to run out of steam. Then when you run out of steam, who is there to pick you up?
Stop allowing someone else’s crisis to be your own. Allow people the opportunity to work through their own issues so that they learn from their mistakes. Stand quietly on the sideline and pray for them that God would give them guidance and direction. This is the best type of Rescue Engine for you to be.
Look back over your life from year to date…. Is it your crisis?
